The XNA Distribution Beta

March 2, 2008

Dax Hawkins has posted a 7 page article on GamaSutra about the X360 Community Games Beta. You can read the article here.

I don’t need to tell you how awesome this is for indie game devs, but just in case, read the article and get excited.

The article describes the basic approval and release process as this:

In short, create your game, submit it, and the peer community reviews it. The peer community includes those with XNA Creators Club memberships.

The first run will be a beta, after which games will need to be resubmitted for the final, worldwide process at the end of 2008.

An interesting thing noted in the article: over 200 games were submitted to the Dream. Build. Play. contest, resulting in 5 publishing contracts being awarded, 4 of those by Microsoft. So yeah, now is a good time to brush up on C# and XNA, and get working on your game.
